Are you a 4th-6th grader who wants to spend three weeks exploring music, theater and visual arts? Do you want to go beyond school band or orchestra? Are you inspired by "Glee" or "Wicked"? Do you have an inner Picasso or Banksy that needs to come out? Come to the Exploratorium this summer and make music, theater and art with other kids and really fun teachers. Music students will have the opportunity to play in three different ensembles per day, exploring the fun types of music including; Jazz, Rock, Hip Hop, Klezmer, Latin and more. Learn how to compose songs and improvise on your instrument. Visual Arts students will spend the mornings drawing, painting, creating sculpture and photography and learning about famous works of art and the artists who made them. Theater students will explore the basics of being on stage through speech, movement and improvisation classes each morning, plus work on a theater show to be presented at the end of the summer. In the afternoons, you can stay within your major and work on specialized projects, or cross over into another art form to learn about garage band recording, I-movie, spoken word/poetry, hip-hop dance or musical theatre review. You will present your work in the final Exploratorium show; a gigantic concert/theater production/art opening that dazzles all who attend.
